Our Founder

Edmund Ivan Adams

Ed Adams was born December 4, 1933 in Madison County, GA, to the late Clarence and Ola Stephens Adams. His attorney father and school teacher mother valued education and civic engagement, and Ed followed all eight of his older siblings to college. He attended Emory-at-Oxford and received his law degree from the University of Georgia in 1956. He moved to Winston-Salem, NC, and was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1960. From 1961 to 1969, he practiced in Winston-Salem where he was an Assistant Solicitor for Forsyth County.

Our Team

Whitney L. Ivey

Originally from the Bluegrass state of Kentucky, Whitney L. Ivey is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in Animal Science and Agriculture. She attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines Iowa with a particular interest in Agriculture Law.

James T. Lambie

James T. Lambie is a graduate of Carson-Newman College with a B.S. in Finance and a Law Degree from George Washington University. Jim has been a resident of North Carolina since 1967 and currently resides in Roaring Gap, NC.

Judy S. Webb

Judy S. Webb is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal and has 47 years of legal experience, having worked with Adams & Ivey PLLC since starting in 1972 under an internship program sponsored by Edmund I. Adams, the founding partner.

April Horton-Fender

April Horton-Fender has 26 years total experience in the legal field. Born and raised in Carroll County, Virginia, she served as a Legal Assistant, Circuit Court Deputy Clerk and Assistant to the Commissioner of Accounts over a span of 20 years.

Kaitlin M. Houck

Originally from Elk Creek, Virginia, Kaitlin M. Houck moved to Alleghany County, NC several years ago and now makes Alleghany County her home.  She is a graduate from Alleghany High School and after working in administration at the local Hospital, she joined Adams & Ivey PLLC in 2015.
