Originally from the Bluegrass state of Kentucky, Whitney L. Ivey is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in Animal Science and Agriculture. She attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines Iowa with a particular interest in Agriculture Law. After Graduating with her Law Degree and a Certificate in Food and Agriculture Law and Public Service, she and her husband Brantley moved to a farm in Southwest Virginia. After moving here, she was introduced to Edmund I. Adams, the founding partner of Adams & Ivey, PLLC law firm who brought her in to start practicing after sitting for the bar in 2008. She subsequently sat for the Virginia Bar, and the firm is now is duly licensed in both states. In addition to private practice, Whitney serves as the attorney for the Town of Sparta, is on the board of the local hospital and is actively involved with the American Agricultural Law Association and the North Carolina Bar Association Real Estate Section.
In her spare time Whitney and her husband Brantley are busy at the farm raising cattle, horses, berries and kids in Grayson County Virginia!
Judy S. Webb is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal and has 47 years of legal experience, having worked with Adams & Ivey PLLC since starting in 1972 under an internship program sponsored by Edmund I. Adams, the founding partner. She is also a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker. She is a graduate of Alleghany High School and attended Surry Community College. A native of Alleghany County, she now lives in Hillsville, Virginia with her husband, Curtis, and they have two adult children.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and working with her church on mission projects.
April Horton-Fender has 26 years total experience in the legal field. Born and raised in Carroll County, Virginia, she served as a Legal Assistant, Circuit Court Deputy Clerk and Assistant to the Commissioner of Accounts over a span of 20 years. April moved to Alleghany County, NC in 2013, and has served as a Legal Assistant to attorneys since that time. In 2017, April became a part of the team here at Adams & Ivey PLLC where she specializes in real estate transactions.
While not at work, April enjoys spending time with her family, including her Godchildren, Icelynn and Abram, her fur babies, being active in her church, New Home Freewill Baptist and serving the local communities alongside her husband, Robert (Bobby) Fender. Both April and her husband are 2016 recipients of the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award which is a civil award bestowed by the President of the United States for civic engagement and dedication to local communities.
Originally from Elk Creek, Virginia, Kaitlin M. Houck moved to Alleghany County, NC several years ago and now makes Alleghany County her home. She is a graduate from Alleghany High School and after working in administration at the local Hospital, she joined Adams & Ivey PLLC in 2015. Kaitlin has spent the last four years focusing on real estate transactions and building strong relationships with the local realtors and lenders.
Kaitlin is married to Tyler Houck and they have a beautiful daughter, McKinley. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, being active in her Church, Pine Fork Baptist and working alongside her husband, Tyler with a non-profit organization.
